Dive into Florida's Flats: Sight Cast Your Way to Excitement!
We had a great afternoon out on the flats with Test from Marshal fishing company. May is a fantastic time for flats fishing in Florida, with the warmer waters bringing in more baitfish and increasing activity. We met up in Florida City, FL at 5:00 pm, ready to hit the water. The conditions were perfect - clear skies and great water visibility. I was excited to show Test some of my favorite spots and hopefully get into some fish.
Once we got out on the flats, we started off with some sight casting. I was on the poling platform, scanning the water for any signs of movement. We tried a mix of techniques, including soft plastic bait fishing, to cover our bases. The clear conditions made it easier to spot potential targets, but the fish were being a bit tricky. We moved around quite a bit, trying different areas and adjusting our approach as needed.
As the afternoon wore on, we kept at it, enjoying the calm waters and the challenge of the hunt. Even though we didn't manage to land any big prize, we still had a great time out on the water, enjoying the scenery and good company. That's the thing about flats fishing - it's not just about the catch, it's about the whole experience. The late afternoon brought some rain, but it didn't dampen our spirits. We used it as an opportunity to try a few different spots and techniques.
